Two Dawson Students Earn Scholarships

Two Dawson Middle School students are getting a head start on paying for college.

DMS eighth graders Katie McKinney and Ali Malik were announced as college scholarship winners by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation. McKinney and Malik will receive $2,500 scholarships to be awarded on completion of high school and enrollment in college. The 37 scholarship recipients attend middle and junior high schools in 16 districts across North Texas.

The winners and remaining finalists will be honored at the Bobby Bragan Foundation’s annual scholarship celebration on Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. at Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth.

Bobby Bragan, a former major league baseball player, manager, and coach, established the foundation in 1991 to encourage children to stay in school and pursue their educational and career dreams. The foundation honors eighth grade students each year with scholarships.
