4 Month Dove Rd. Closure Begins Week of April 16

The City of Southlake would like to make residents aware of a road improvement project taking place in our neighboring city, the Town of Westlake. Beginning the week of April 16, 2012, the intersection of Dove Road and Pearson Lane will be closed to all traffic (excepting adjacent property owners) for a four month period.  The Town of Westlake has provided a detour map in the press release below:

The week of April 16th, construction will begin on Dove Road and will encompass the area from the Vaquero to Paigebrooke subdivisions, including the Pearson Lane intersection.  The improvements are part of a $4.6 million dollar economic development agreement with Hillwood and includes:
•             installation of new drainage structure at the creek west of the Fire Station

•             stabilization of the road subgrade

•             7″ of asphalt; turn lanes at Pearson Lane.

In order to complete the upgrades, Dove Road will be closed from the week of the 16th of April and remained closed approximately four (4) months for construction. Adjacent property owners will be allowed access.

Traffic will be re-routed via Randol Mill to Fawkes to Summer Lane (see attached detour plan below).  The detour plan was designed with special consideration given to surrounding construction projects and emergency response needs within the Town.

To ensure there is no delay in emergency response services, a detailed construction schedule will be required from the Contractor to allow fire department personnel to make the necessary staging arrangements in advance. The Contractor will communicate directly with the Fire Chief on the construction schedule.  The use of mutual aid from Keller, Southlake, Trophy Club, and Roanoke will be utilized as necessary to maintain acceptable response times to emergencies.

The Town recognizes that the roadway improvements will cause a temporary inconvenience to our residents and those who use our internal roadways.  We truly appreciate your patience during this period and will attempt to minimize the inconvenience as much as possible. Please keep in mind that the rewards of this construction today will be smoother, safer roads, better traffic flow and sustainable infrastructure for tomorrow.
