After winning the Class 5A Division I state championship with a 16-0 mark in 2011, the Dragons are poised to make another deep run in the upcoming 2012 season. Last week, MaxPreps, a national online publication, released its Preseason Football rankings for 2012.
The Dragons landed at No. 7 in the nation, second in the state behind Dallas Skyline, which is ranked No. 3. Despite losing standout receivers Sabian Holmes and Peyton Williams, senior Ray Crockett could emerge as quarterback Kenny Hill’s main weapon. Hill has committed to Texas A&M and leads an offense that also includes returning running back A.J. Ezzard. Defensively, Stanford commit Tanner Jacobson will anchor the secondary at safety, as National Coach of they Year Hal Wasson and the Dragons look to repeat as state champs. The Dragons open the season at Allen on Aug. 31.
