Dragons Win Streak Hits Seven

KELLER – The Carroll Dragons remain on course for the District 4-5A championship. The Dragons took one more step toward adding that claim with a convincing 56-7 victory Thursday against Keller at KISD Athletic Complex.

The Dragons held a 35-7 lead by halftime and rolled to their seventh consecutive victory. Carroll moved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in 4-5A. Keller fell to 2-6 overall and 2-3. The Dragons have two remaining games in the regular season. Next Friday they host Fossil Ridge on Senior Night before ending district play on Thursday, Nov. 8 at Haltom.

Quarterback Kenny Hill produced another impressive performance accounting for five touchdowns — three rushing, two passing. His 53-yard touchdown run in the first quarter opened the scoring for the Dragons. He ended the game 17-of-22 passing withh 283 yards and had 12 carries for 90 yards and led the team in rushing. Running back A.J. Ezzard added 64 yards on the ground and TD runs of 2 and 5 yards in the third quarter.

Carroll’s leading receiver was Mike Gardiner, who had eight catches for 135 yards and one TD – a 51-yard reception in the second quarter. The Dragons produced five turnovers, including three interceptions against the Indians.

In five district games, the Carroll defense has allowed just 21 points.
