Carroll Students Celebrate Homecoming A Little Different

Students at Carroll have decided to celebrate homecoming a little different this year.  Instead of buying mums and garters to give to each other, they bought T-shirts that read, “The reason I don’t have a mum/garter…We donated to Youth World.”

These students will be donating the money they would have spent on mums/garters to help feed area children. These students have worked for the past five years with other Carroll students in Students Standing Strong and SASO to help raise money to provide groceries to feed 400 families Thanksgiving dinner. The goal is to bring dignity to families by providing groceries, so families can share in the traditions of preparing Thanksgiving dinner together.

Youth World is a non-profit that helps feed, mentor and educate at-risk children. Hundreds of children are being fed and mentored each day at the facility in south Dallas. Texas State Agriculture Department says, “Youth World is the model organization for feeding children.”  Volunteers help daily with mentoring, activities, reading and feeding.

Donations can be made online at www.Youthworld.com – please designate “Feed a Family Thanksgiving Dinner.”  – $50 will buy Thanksgiving groceries for a family of six.
