Carroll ISD Winter Break: Dec. 23- Jan. 6

The Carroll ISD will be closed for two weeks starting Monday, Dec. 23. All campuses and the CISD Administration Center will be closed at this time. District employees will return for a work day on Monday, Jan. 6. Students will return to class on Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Carroll ISD appreciates the community’s patience as the district dealt with the great ice storm of 2013. Students and staff will be hearing more about the district’s request to the Texas Education Agency to waive the bad weather days caused by December’s severe weather event. Look for future communications as district administrators learn more in a few months about how the lost days of instruction will affect the spring calendar.

Beginning in January 2014, Carroll ISD is requiring all school volunteers who work in district buildings or with students to complete a new online application and background check. This more thorough volunteer screening process is similar to what is already being done in larger districts in the area. It is just one aspect of Operation SAFEdragon, Carroll ISD’s comprehensive program to help ensure a safer environment for your Dragons.

The application process is quick, it’s easy, and confidential. Please take a few moments to follow the link below to our online application. A detailed explanation of our policies and procedures is available at this link. It will take you longer to read the handbook than it does to actually apply!

Thank you to the nearly 500 Dragon volunteers who have already completed the application. If you are a Carroll ISD employee who wants to also volunteer at your child’s school, you will not have to apply online because a thorough background check has already been completed and/or is being updated on you! Substitutes do have to complete the online volunteer application to be included on the list of Approved Volunteers we’ll begin using in Carroll ISD in 2014.

If you are a visitor to a CISD campus for a special event or lunch, you do not have to apply as a volunteer, but rather just check in using the Raptor system as in the past. However, if you plan to help teachers, serve in the spirit shop, help students, work in the library, office or teacher area or even volunteer as a dad for the day, room mom or for parent booster events, then you will need to fill out the online application and complete the new process. When in doubt, just apply! That way you’ll avoid any delays or complications when you go to volunteer in CISD after the new year.

Our volunteers are amazing and we could not do the work we do for students without you. But safety remains a top priority. Please take just a few moments to give of your time and attention to the safety of our students.
