Southlake PD Names Johnson New JES Resource Officer

The Southlake Police Department has assigned James Johnson as Johnson Elementary’s new School Resource Officer.

Johnson has worked in law enforcement for more than 22 years in four different departments. He began his law enforcement career in 1993 in Dumas. He was one of the first SROs at Dumas High School when the SRO program began during the 1995-1996 school year.

Before arriving in Southlake, Johnson worked for the Hallsville Police Department as the SRO and then Police Chief for the last four years.

Johnson is a former U.S. Marine and served from 1978-1982 and worked as a corrections officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for six years before moving to law enforcement. Most recently, Johnson spent four months as a member of the guard force protecting the embassy in Kabul in Afghanistan.
