The Southlake Chamber of Commerce welcomed its new president and CEO, Dana Davis, July 1. Davis joins the Southlake Chamber after serving as chief executive of Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce in Oklahoma for five-and-a-half years. During that time, he initiated several vital programs including the Lawton Area Strategy for Economic Revitalization (LASER) – a long-range economic development strategy that included downtown revitalization, and enhanced air service for its local airport.
Prior to that, he actively practiced law for 12+ years (including service as chief deputy attorney general for the state of West Virginia), served as counsel to two Senate committees, and served as deputy director and interim director of a state economic and community development agency.
According to Davis, he accepted the position with the Southlake Chamber because of the city’s great reputation and high quality of life, as well as the opportunity to work with a committed board of directors dedicated to growing the Southlake Chamber and maintaining Southlake’s reputation.
“I appreciate the trust and confidence that the board of directors has placed in me and am excited to become a part of the Chamber team and the Southlake community,” said Davis. “I look forward to working with a dedicated group of volunteer leaders that want to see the Chamber become a more active and effective partner with the City and our members.”
Jill Clifton, the current chairman of board for the Southlake Chamber, said Davis’ skill set is an exceptional match for the qualities the Southlake Chamber needs in its new president and CEO.
“Dana will greatly benefit the business community and ignite economic success,” Clifton commented. “He will be tasked with launching initiatives to solidify support for the Chamber membership and implementing our 2010-2013 Strategic Plan.”
