School Zone Reminder

The first day of the 2010-2011 C.I.S.D. school year starts on Monday, August 23rd.  The Southlake Department of Public Safety will have officers in school zones enforcing traffic laws.    The officers will be enforcing the speed limits as well as the use of hand-held cell phones.   The cell phone ban is to help ensure the safety of other motorists and of young people walking and riding bicycles within active school zones.

Any person that drives or operates a motor vehicle in a school zone, during the school zone hours, cannot use a hand-held mobile telephone to engage in a call or to create, send or read messages.  The ban does not include the use of hands-free devices.   If you have any questions please contact Lieutenant Mike Bedrich at 817-748-8137.
