Although the 2011 Super Bowl is still months away, the City of Southlake is getting ready for the big day now. Plans are in the works for a tailgating event from in the Grand Avenue District of Town Square on Saturday, February 5, 2011, the day before the game. The event area includes Frank Cornish Park, the park located near Brio which was named after the late Cowboy offensive lineman and Southlake resident.
Party plans include a “Biergarten” atmosphere, live music, food and drink tents by Town Square restaurants, jumbo screens, and football-themed activities.
Community Services Director Chris Tribble presented preliminary plans to the City Council at the October 19th meeting. Part of Tribble’s presentation included funding information. For FY 2011, $50,000 from the City’s Hotel Occupancy Fund has been set aside for a Super Bowl related event. Tribble also told the Council that the City is talking with some area businesses about sponsorship opportunities.
Below is the presentation Tribble made to the City Council.
