Festival of Trees Kicks Off; Personalized Ornaments Available

Southlake’s “Home for the Holidays” celebration kicks-off November 13 with the Third Annual Festival of Trees, hosted by the Greater Southlake Women’s Society in conjunction with the City of Southlake and Southlake Town Square. The week long event provides many opportunities to get into the holiday spirit:

  • Fashion show and luncheon November 19 at the Hilton Southlake Town Square
  • Gingerbread house display November 13-20 at Southlake Town Hall
  • Grand Gala November 20 at the Hilton Southlake Town Square
  • Professionally decorated Christmas trees on display and auctioned during the Grand Gala
  • Southlake Community Tree on display in Southlake Town Hall beginning November 13
  • Christmas tree lighting in Southlake Town Square November 20

New this year is a commemorative holiday ornament painted by renowned local artist, Trish Biddle. Available for purchase at $15 each, the ornaments can be personalized and hung on the Community Tree in Southlake Town Hall. The ornaments will be boxed and available for pick up when the tree is taken down. Ornaments may be purchased at the Southlake Library, Community Services Division, Senior Activity Center or online.

This is the third consecutive year Biddle has created a painting featuring Southlake Town Square for Festival of Trees. This year’s creation depicts a family holding hands near the enormous Christmas tree with another couple sitting on a bench looking on dressed in winter fashion. The artist painted this piece during last year’s tree lighting festivities for inspiration.

“So many people come to enjoy the Christmas spirit at such a special place, Southlake Town Square. Painting during the lighting of the trees was a wonderful experience and really kicked off the Christmas season for me,” Biddle said.

“This is one of the ways I can give back to the community. I tried to capture the moment on canvas, as the choir was singing and some children were watching me paint the tree.  I could feel the energy and excitement build as they anticipated the lights to transform the square into a winter wonderland.”
