Driveway Fronting CSHS Closed

Construction officials have announced that the main school driveway in front of Carroll Senior High School will be closed beginning Tuesday, November 30 until construction is complete on the new art classrooms on the north side of the property. School buses, shuttle service and parent traffic should begin utilizing the south side of the campus for picking up and dropping off students. Bus and parent vehicles can enter the south entrance off Peytonville Avenue and then proceed to the circle drive at the rear of the building near the cafeteria/counseling area to access CSHS.

The new art facility is part of the School Bond Program approved by voters in May of 2009. It will sit directly across the driveway from the CSHS auditorium, and be connected by a covered canopy. The campus will also receive additional gym space, tennis dressing rooms and storage, along with additional tennis seating, softball dressing rooms and a ticket office, and additional dressing room and storage space at the aquatics center. The project is slated for substantial completion in July 2011.

Construction on the CSHS campus began during Thanksgiving break. It was first thought the driveway would be accessible throughout the beginning stages of the art facility construction, but the general contractor for the project, Ratcliff Constructors, has informed Carroll ISD officials that they will need to close the front drive to thru-traffic for the duration of the project.  About 50 percent of the visitor parking at the front entrance of the CSHS campus remains open, with access to and from FM 1709 and the staff parking  lot(accessible via the Aquatics Center entrance). The construction project slightly reduced student parking at the rear of the building, but school officials say temporary parking will be provided. Students are encouraged to carpool or address their concerns with the campus administration. Thank you to our Dragon staff, students and parents for your cooperation and patience as we make improvements to the CSHS campus.
