The Carroll Dragon swimming and diving team began the postseason with a dominating performance in the District 6-5A Swim/Dive competition last weekend at the Keller Natatorium.
The Lady Dragons finished in first place and scored 265 points, which was 164 points ahead of second-place Keller. The Dragons were just as impressive scoring 266 points, well ahead of second-place Keller with 84 points. All five divers advanced to regionals and 37 swimmers advanced. Carroll set new Keller Natatorium pool records in 12 of 16 individual events and won 23 of 24 events. All six relays advanced to regionals.
Carroll swept the top honors in 6-5A.. Bryce Klein was named district boy diver of the year, Cassidy Lapp was named girl swimmer of year and Connor Nolan won boy swimmer of the year. Carroll’s Carolyn Hryorchuk was honored as district boy diving coach of the year.
Carroll advances to the Region 2-5A meet at the LISD Aquatics Center Feb. 4-5. in The Colony. The swimming competition will be at Loos Natatorium in Addison. Prelims will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. and the finals will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
