Updated: Durham Elementary announced this morning the Cardboard Regatta has been rescheduled for 9:00 a.m. Friday morning, Feb. 11.
The Regatta was canceled Friday, Feb. 4 when the district closed due to widespread snow and ice.
Durham fourth graders are wrapping up construction of their boats this week. Teams will paddle the across the pool at the Carroll ISD Aquatics Center in a race to the finish line. Carroll ISD busses will transport regatta participants to and from the Aquatics Center. Parents are asked to park in the north parking lot at Durham Elementary School and be loaded on the bus by 8:40 a.m.
Last year, members of the Carroll ISD Board of Trustees including Superintendent Dr. David Faltys (pictured, right) participated in the event, swimming and paddling along with the students. Durham Elementary science teacher Debra Heath oversees the regatta, coordinating the event and helping students design and build their sea-worthy boats.
