All Carroll schools and offices are closed Wednesday, February 9 due to icy conditions and a significant drop in temperatures. NOTE: Thursday will be an “A” day for all high school and senior high students.
All activities and meetings are canceled Wednesday, as well. Parents and staff were notified shortly before 6 a.m. by the district’s emergency telephone notification system and email.
Last week district officials canceled school for four consecutive days. Two of the days will be made up on scheduled bad weather days, Monday, April 11 and Friday, April 22.
CISD is in the process of filing a waiver for missed instructional days due to weather. Carroll will ask the Texas Education Agency to waive the remaining days – three in total now – to avoid extending school. In the past, the state has waived make-up days in the event of widespread weather like a hurricane or ice storm.
The District Advisory Committee approved the waiver request at their meeting Tuesday. The Carroll School Board will vote on the waiver request February 21. Ultimately, the final decision will be made by the state’s Commissioner of Education.
