City Open Regular Business Hours 2/3; Ice and cold remains

The City of Southlake is open normal business hours for February 3, 2011.  City crews are working to coat the roads for better traction for drivers, but drivers are urged to use caution especially in the neighborhoods.

Meetings and Events

The joint City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission meeting as well as the regularly scheduled Planning and Zoning Commission meeting will take place as scheduled.

On Wednesday night, the City Council postponed the originally scheduled Tuesday, February 1st City Council meeting to Friday, February 4, 2011 at 4:00 p.m.  The gas well drilling application (GAS10-004) will not be considered prior to 5:00 p.m.  The meeting will take place in the Town Hall Council Chamber.

Plans for the Southlake Tailgate party are really taking shape.  Join the City in Town Square on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. as we celebrate the “Big Game” in true Southlake style.  More information:

Rolling Blackouts

The City has received word from [Electric Reliability Council Of Texas] and Oncor that rolling blackouts are no longer necessary.

“We are very appreciative of the sacrifices of those who were without power during the rotating outages, and we also appreciate the conservation efforts by consumers during this emergency situation, as well as the load resources in our demand response programs,” said ERCOT CEO Trip Doggett in a press release.

Doggett added: “With continued cold temperatures and snow predicted across the state, we ask that everyone continue to conserve their electricity usage until temperatures moderate. “

If you are having power issues, please phone Oncor at 888-313-4747.

Garbage and Recycling Pickup

Duncan Disposal has notified the City they will be conducting their regular garbage and recycling pickups Friday morning.  However, if Duncan trucks encounter areas that are too treacherous to navigate or cannot complete the Friday routes, they will return on Saturday (2/5) to finish the collection. The normal pickup schedule should resume on Monday.
