Early Wednesday morning, the Southlake City Council approved 5-2, item 4L, a specific use permit (SUP) application (GAS10-004) for gas and oil well drilling and production on property located at 651 and 655 East Highland Street. Councilmembers Zito and Morris voted against the application.
The Council also voted to approve GAS10-005 (item 4N) granting the variance to the three pipe system and allowing drilling within 1000 feet of a inhabitable structure. The vote was 5-2 with Councilmembers Zito and Morris dissenting.
Item 4N, GAS10-006 was approved by the Council 6-1 with Councilmember Zito dissenting. It allows for the location of an unregulated pipeline within private residential areas without an existing pipeline corridor.
In the final vote of the evening, the Council approved item 4O by a 6-1 vote to allow a variance to the noise ordinance No. 778. Councilmember Zito voted against the variance request.
