Gas Drilling Application to be Heard 3/1

At the March 1st City Council meeting, XTO Energy Inc. is scheduled to request approval of a specific use permit (SUP) and associated variances for a gas drilling site on property located at 1719 East Continental Boulevard.  If a vote by the Council is taken, a supermajority is required on the SUP and two of the associated variances.  The noise variance request does not require a supermajority as it is not tied to the SUP.

Three SPIN meetings were held regarding this request in March and April 2010.   The video from the April 1, and the April 5, 2010 meetings is available by visiting here and clicking on the “other”  tab and the appropriate dates.

The items were heard by the Planning and Zoning Commission  on January 20, 2011.  The commission denied GAS10-001 the specific use permit, GAS10-002 and GAS 10-003  variances to Ordinance 800-A, 4-1.  The variance request to the noise ordinance made by Energy Transfer was approved 3-2.  The votes from this meeting can be found below.  To view the meeting in its entirety please visit the City’s video on demand webpage.
