Carroll Independent School District joins educators across the state in celebrating Educational Diagnosticians’ Week, March 7-11, 2011.
In Carroll ISD, an estimated 10 percent of students have an Educational Diagnostician. These certified professionals help students with a wide range of learning disabilities from severe to mild.
According to The State Board of Education, an educational diagnostician plays a critical role in student achievement. They must be certified and actively participate in professional development skills. According to Cathy Friar, Executive Director of Special Programs and Assessment for Carroll ISD, there are nine educational diagnosticians in the district and they are all part of a team that comes together to make sure a student is successful in school.
An educational diagnostician is so important to a student’s success, that Governor Rick Perry issued a proclamation to recognize their work. Perry declared the week of March 7-11, 2011 as Educational Diagnosticians’ Week. Click here to download a copy of the proclamation.
