Fifth Candidate Files for City Council Seat

The City of Southlake will hold a General Election for City Council Place 1 and Place 6 on May 14, 2011, with up to five candidates on the ballot.

A fifth candidate, Dianne Dorman, has filed for Place 6.  She will run against incumbent Councilmember Pamela Muller and businessman Mike Tilbury.  Candidates for Place 1 include businessman Martin Schelling and Dr. Shahid Shafi.

In order to vote in any election, a voter registration application must be postmarked no later than 30 days prior to the election. Voter registration applications may be obtained in Town Hall in the City Secretary’s Office or the Library.  The last day to register to vote in the May 14, 2011 election is April 14, 2011.

The Southlake City Council consists of seven members, including the Mayor, all elected at-large by Southlake residents. The Mayor and Council members are elected for three-year terms (unless elected in a special election due to a resignation) and no member may serve more than two successive elected terms. Elections are held in May of each year, with no more than three places scheduled for any single year unless there are resignations.
