Baseball Team Pounds Saginaw, 17-7

The playoffs are nearing for the Carroll Dragons baseball team. The Dragons have one District 7-5A game remaining and with a victory can clinch the outright championship.

Carroll’s final district game is Friday at Denton Guyer at 7 p.m. The matchup expects to be a showdown between two of the area’s best pitchers in Carroll’s John Curtiss and Jacob Rhame of Guyer.

The Dragons (24-6, 12-1) have already clinched at least a share of the 7-5A title as they stand one game ahead of second-place Coppell. Carroll also split its two meetings with Coppell this season. If Carroll wins sole possession of first place, it will play the No. 4 playoff seed in District 8-5A in the first round of the playoffs. Currently, Flower Mound and Plano East are tied in third.

Last Friday, the Dragons overcame an early 5-0 deficit and slugged their way to a 17-7 victory against Saginaw.
