Diamond Notes: Dragons Blast Keller 11-1

KELLER- The Dragons traveled to Keller last Friday looking to extend their undefeated run in District 7-5A. Carroll made it possible behind its offense and starting pitcher John Curtiss in an 11-1 victory. Curtiss threw a complete game and allowed just five hits. The only Keller run scored in the first inning, but the Dragons came right back in the top of the second and never looked back.

Senior center fielder Tommy Klocke led the Dragons offense with two home runs and two RBI. Also, senior catcher Patrick Quintanilla had a home run and double and four RBI. Carroll leads 7-5A at 9-0 and are 21-4 overall. The Dragons travel to face Northwest Tuesday at 7 p.m. and host second-place Coppell Friday at 4 p.m.

Lady Dragons Stop Coppell, Remain In 2nd

The Lady Dragons’ softball team needed another top effort to remain in second place in District 7-5A. A great pitching performance and an error-free defense made it possible. The Dragons (14-9, 9-2) dropped Coppell 4-1 last Friday night and remains tied with Denton Guyer in second and behind leader Keller by one game. Pitcher Kelsey Mann paced the Lady Dragons allowing just five hits and had three strikeouts. Coppell tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third but Carroll rallied with two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead. The Lady Dragons had 11 hits, led by three-hit performances from Katelyn Vinson and Sarah Dotson…Carroll returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Keller Central. The Lady Dragons host Saginaw on Friday at Bob Jones Park at 7 p.m.
