Diamond Notes: Curtiss Tosses Shutout; Softball Stopped By Keller

Dragons Produce Third Straight 7-5A Shutout

The Carroll Dragons baseball team finished the first half of District 7-5A leaving no doubt who was the best team. Carroll is undefeated at 7-0 and has produced three consecutive shuouts against Coppell, Saginiaw and Denton Guyer. Last Friday, Dragons right-hander John Curtiss blanked second-place Guyer 3-0 with a two-hitter. Curtiss, who also had a shutout vs. Coppell, added five strikeouts and only allowed one walk. Payne Drewelow, Patrick McClendon and Ryan Lowe each provided an RBI. The Dragons host Fossil Ridge at 4 p.m. and travel to Keller on Friday at 7 p.m.

Softball Win Streak Ends Against Keller

The Lady Dragons’ District 7-5A six-game win streak ended last Friday to Keller 10-2. Keller took a 6-0 lead after the second inning to provide all the distance it needed. The Lady Dragons were held to five hits and Sarah Littlehale and Mattie Schirle provided the RBIs. Carroll is tied for second place in 7-5A with Denton Guyer at 7-2 behind Keller, which is 8-1…The Lady Dragons play at Northwest at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and host Coppell on Friday at 7 p.m. at Bob Jones Park.
