Diamond Notes: Lady Dragons Edge Northwest 7-5

Fast Start Helps Lady Dragons

After suffering a loss last Friday to Keller, the Lady Dragons’ softball team bounced back in winning fashion. Carroll used 11 hits and held off Northwest 7-5 Tuesday night in Justin. The Lady Dragons improved to 8-2 in District 7-5A and 15-12 overall. The Lady Dragons scored two runs in the first, third and fourth innings for a 6-0 lead. But Northwest rallied with a five-run fifth inning. In the sixth, the Lady Dragons added some insurance with one run to hold off Northwest. Katelyn Vinson led Carroll going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and one RBI. Julia Colman, Samantha Schneider and Sara Littlehale each had two hits apiece. Kelsey Mann earned the victory on the mound allowing seven hits and had three strikeouts…Carroll returns to play Friday and hosts rival Coppell at 7 p.m. at Bob Jones Park.

 

Dragons Smash Fossil Ridge, Stay Undefeated In 7-5A

The Dragons’ baseball team opened the second half of District 7-5A play with a dominating performance. Carroll blasted Fossil Ridge 13-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Dragon Field by scoring at least one run in the first four innings. The game was shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule. Carroll improved to 20-4 and 8-0 in 7-5A. Pitcher Ryan Lowe (pictured right) and catcher Patrick Quintanilla did a large part of the damage. Lowe went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run and four RBI. Quintanilla was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and four RBI. Lowe earned the victory on the mound going four innings and allowed three hits and had seven strikeouts…The Dragons’ next game is Friday at 7 p.m. at Keller.
