Dragon 2011 Football Schedule Features Move To FM Station

The Carroll Dragons will kick off the 2011 football season with back-to-back home games at Dragon Stadium. This year’s schedule includes the Dragons hosting Copperas Cove on Friday, Aug. 26 in the season opener and L.D. Bell the following week on Sept. 2 to start the year.

The Dragons host five home games as the team and fans enjoy the second year in the renovated Dragon Stadium. Carroll hosts Fossil Ridge on Sept. 23 to open District 7-5A action, Coppell on Oct. 14 and the home finale will be Oct. 28 against Saginaw. The final game of the season will be Nov. 4 at Denton Guyer. This year, Homecoming and Senior Night will be held on the same night – Friday, Oct. 28. The Dragons’ open date is Sept. 16.

Radio Broadcast Moving To FM Station

Dragon football is excited to announce a new radio home for its live football broadcasts in 2011. All Carroll regular season and playoff football games will be carried on The Word 100.7 FM. The move to FM comes with a stronger signal that will be heard clearly throughout North Texas.

Dragon play-by-play announcer Chuck Kelly returns alongside color analyst Kelly Milligan and sideline reporter Travis Smith.

“We are very excited about the new agreement of having Dragon football on The Word,” said Carroll Executive Director of Athletic Services Kevin Ozee. “The new broadcast platform is a tremendous statement about the popularity of Dragons football and the quality of production by Chuck Kelly and his crew.”

This season marks the ninth consecutive year the Dragons will have their entire season broadcast on radio and is believed to represent the first time in Texas High School football history that a 100,000-watt station in a major market has carried a high school team’s entire schedule.

“We are delighted to have the opportunity to serve the entire Southlake community by being the official flagship radio station for Carroll Dragons football,” said Salem Communications Vice President and 100.7 The Word General Manager John L. Peroyea. “We look forward to a winning season and the opportunity to broadcast these games to the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.”

All Dragon games will also be streamed worldwide at www.thewordfm.com.

The Dragons will host promotional night scoreboard sponsors on select home games. Tommy Pennington Realty will be featured at the home opener on Aug. 26.
