Add the title of National Champions to the list of historic accolades for the 2011 Carroll Dragons boys’ soccer team.
The Dragons, who went undefeated at 28-0-3 and earned the Class 5A state title, finished the season ranked No. 1 in the final National Soccer Coaches Association of Amercia/adidas rankings.
“The 2011 season could not have been more perfect for the Carroll boys’ varsity soccer,” Carroll soccer coach Greg Oglesby said. “Undefeated, district champions, regional champions, state champions and national champions — who says perfection isn’t possible?”
The two teams Carroll defeated at the state tournament are ranked in the final top-10 (No. 6 Round Rock McNeil, 10. Houston Strake Jesuit).
This national championship honor caps a historic season for the Dragons. It included school records with 22 shutouts and just 10 goals allowed. The state championship marked the first in Class 5A for Carroll and second in the program’s history.
