Change of Leadership

There is a change of leadership in the Carroll Dragon Band. After more than 30 years leading young musicians, Dragon Band Director Ron Behrends (pictued left) announced his retirement effective at the end of the school year. Under his leadership, Behrends took the band to two state championships among other impressive awards and titles. The Behrends family is close to the Dragon community after having two daughters graduate from Carroll Senior High School.

To show their appreciation for Mr. Behrends and his dedication, the Carroll Band Boosters are hosting a retirement party in his honor. The Dragon Wind Ensemble will perform Sunday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at White’s Chapel Methodist Church located at 185 S. White Chapel Boulevard. A scholarship fund has also been created. Donations can be made by check or Pay Pal via the Carroll Band Boosters website.

Carroll ISD Associate Band Director, Jay Bach has been selected to replace Behrends in the fall. Carroll ISD Trustees unanimously approved Bach’s appointment during the May 2 School Board Meeting. Bach has been with Carroll ISD for 16 years.
