Showtime: Dawson Middle School Featured On Oprah

Dawson Middle School takes center stage Friday, May 13 on national television.

DMS will be featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show at 4 p.m. on WFAA Ch. 8. This is the final season of the show and she is counting down to the final episode. Oprah will feature the story of George Dawson, an elderly man who learned how to read at age 98. Dawson passed away in 2001 and the school opened in 2002. Oprah has featured George Dawson in the past and has frequently referred to him as one of her most inspiring stories.

Oprah’s camera crews were on campus filming at Dawson Middle two weeks ago. Dawson principal Ryan Wilson was interviewed along with several seventh graders.

DMS staff members will gather together Friday at 4 p.m. for a watch party at the school.
