UDPATE: Lady Dragon pole vaulter Kim Parr earned an at-large bid and will be competing at the state meet.
The Carroll Dragons’ boys track team produced two Class 5A state qualifiers after the Region I meet in Lubbock earlier this week.
Carroll’s 4 x 400 relay team makes a return trip to the state meet after winning the Region I championship. The Dragons finished ahead of second-place Lewisville and third-place Duncanville and set a new school record with a time of 3:13.74. The relay team includes Mac McGuire, Sabian Holmes, Scott Peterson and Peyton Williams.
Also, Dragon long-distance runner Trevor Gilley heads to Austin after finishing second in the 1,600-meter run. He earned a time of 4:17.88, which was just .82 behind first place.
The state track and field meet will be held Friday-Saturday, May 13-14 at the University of Texas’ Myers Stadium.
