Local Teens Earn Skills with CISD Sponsor

Local teenagers can enjoy a summer of fun while learning new things at Broken Bow Lake, located in Beavers Bend State Park in southeastern Oklahoma. Employees at Beavers Bend Marina work closely with summer staff, including teenagers to learn how to be successful dock hands and store clerks.

Dock hands are responsible for watercraft rentals, including checking in and checking out boats to customers. Dock hands are taught customer service skills in how to train individuals the proper way to operate rented equipment. Store clerks have a unique opportunity to operate computer equipment and cash register located inside a ship store on the lake.

The owners of Beavers Bend Marina are proud supporters of Carroll ISD. Ross Garrett of Beavers Bend Marina said “They (teenagers) learn to operate a boat and all the safety measures associated with a boat. Spending the summer months at the lake is a lot of fun.”

Beavers Bend Marina is about a three hour drive from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The facility features watersports, fishing, house boat and cabin rentals. For more information about Beavers Bend Marina, click here.
