Carroll Claims Best 5A Lone Star Cup Finish

This season marked another year of great success for the Carroll Dragons athletic and academic programs. The Dragons produced two team state champions, three state runnerups and 10 district champions.

The 2010-2011 year added to the Dragons’ rich history of athletic success and helped the school earn its best finish in the University Interscholastic League Class 5A Lone Star Cup standings.

Carroll finished second behind The Woodlands by 13 points. The Lone Star Cup is awarded to one school in each of the state’s five classifications. Standings are based on results in: state and area marching band, team tennis, cross country, volleyball, football, swimming and diving, wrestling, girls and boys basketball, soccer, golf, track and field, academics, one-act play, softball and baseball.

The UIL began awarding the Lone Star Cup in the 1997-98 school year. The Dragons won two 4A Cups — in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.
