Are you planning on coming to Stars and Stripes? Here are some important traffic tips to keep in mind on event day.
According to DPS Police Lt. Mike Dunn, if you are planning on parking in Town Square, and using east or westbound S.H. 114 to get here, take the Carroll exit. Westbound drivers will crossover the bridge and continue east bound on the 114 service road, parking on the north end of Town Square. Eastbound drivers should get off at Carroll and continue on the service road to the Town Square entrances.
“Following this route will help folks when they arrive and when they leave,” said Dunn. “When the event is over, drivers can leave by exiting onto the east bound service road and accessing S.H. 114 at Kimball,” he added.
Drivers using this route should also be aware that in observance of Independence Day, there will be no DFW Connector lane closures starting at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on 7/2 Saturday to 8 PM on 7/6 Wednesday.
Southlake Blvd. Access
If you are arriving via Southlake Boulevard, you may either turn north on Carroll to park on the west side of Town Square or use Central to access the east side of the Square or use the east parking garage. Remember, the west parking garage will be closed for the event.
At the end of the event, all traffic on the west side of the Town Square will exit (right-turn only) onto Carroll heading northbound. There will be no southbound traffic out of the Square allowed onto Carroll Avenue.
All traffic on the east side of the Square will exit on Central southbound. If you park in the east garage, and you exit on the east side of the garage you will go south on Central to Southlake Boulevard. If you exit the west end of the garage you will exit north on Central to the 114 service road.
The West garage will not be available for public parking. There will be an in and out drop off area off of Carroll in front of Nothing Bundt Cakes.
“Drivers who are planning to use Southlake Boulevard to get home once the event is over should also be aware that they will not be allowed to access Carroll Avenue to head northbound towards S.H. 114,” said Dunn. “Traffic officers will be in the area to make sure that drivers are following the plan so that everyone gets in and out out safely and with as little delay as possible.”
The City is also providing shuttle service to and from the event. Running from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., the pickup/drop off location will be located at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church at 185 S. White Chapel Boulevard. The pickup/drop off location in Town Square will be located the intersection of Central and Main, in a coned-off area at Main Street. The map can be found below.
