Farewell, but Not for Long

Recent Carroll ISD graduate Zak Hanan and his band will give a free, farewell concert Thursday, August 4 at Jack’s Porch located in Southlake Town Square.

Zak plays lead guitar for the popular cover band, Event Horizon. The 18 year old will attend the University of Colorado in the fall of 2011. Band members insist the performance is not a farewell gig for the band, rather a good-by party for current and recently graduated Carroll ISD stuents, their friends, family and CISD faculty and staff. Zak plans to make trips back to North Texas to jam with his bandmates.

Even Horizon is not your typical band. Zak’s talents on guitar are supported by his father, Marty Hanan on drums, Steve Fenstermacher on keyboard and guitar, Dave Hoekstra on bass and vocals and Kevin Edwards on lead vocals. The band is the brainchild of Zak; who wanted to create a band whose purpose was to give to charities and the community. Event Horizon only plays community-based events and charitable causes and they do it all for free. Event Horizon also played at events for The Special Olympics of Texas, Southlake4Japan relief concert and Art in the Square. The band will also play Southlake Oktoberfest in the fall of 2011. The show at Jack’s Porch on Thursday, August 4 is from 9:00 p.m.- 10:30 p.m. The band will be set up in the far left corner next to the dance floor. The patio will also be open. Jack’s Porch is located at 1239 Main Street, inside Southlake Town Square across from Kobeya.
