City Brief: Ongoing Construction Projects and Upcoming Lane Closures

Left turn to Bicentennial Park to be closed on Monday

Beginning on Monday, July 11, 2011, eastbound traffic on Southlake Boulevard will not be able to turn left into Bicentennial Park.  The left turn lane will be closed for most of the week while the contractor installs the curb and gutter at that location.  Once construction of the center median is complete, there will be a hooded left turn lane into Bicentennial Park as shown below.

Lane closures

Commerce Street

Permanent lane closures were installed on the eastbound lanes of FM1709 yesterday at the intersection of Southlake Blvd. and Commerce Street.  Excavation began today on the deceleration lane at that location.

Miron Drive and Westwood Drive

Construction is currently on-going on the deceleration lanes at Miron Drive and Westwood Drive.  Lane closures remain in place at Miron Drive and Westwood Drive as franchise utilities relocate their facilities that are in conflict with the deceleration lane construction.  Once the conflicts are addressed, the contractor will complete the installation of those deceleration lanes.

Median Construction Updates

Shady Oaks Drive to White Chapel Blvd

Construction is currently on-going from Shady Oaks Drive to White Chapel Blvd. This section of medians shall be complete within the next 2 weeks.  Daily lane closures will continue until the irrigation, plantings and stamped concrete are complete.

Pearson Lane to Davis Blvd

Median Landscaping is currently on-going from Pearson Lane to Davis Blvd.  Trees, shrubs and ground cover are now in place in several of the medians.  The contractor is currently staking the existing trees, and they are aware that there are existing trees that need to be replaced.

Deceleration Lanes

Construction of the deceleration lanes at Timberlake and Stone Lakes are now complete.
