Carroll Independent School District and All Star Orthopaedics reached a five-year, exclusive advertising and sponsorship agreement that will raise $63,000 for the district’s general operating fund. The School Board unanimously approved the partnership during the August 29 meeting, just one month after securing a $63,000 concession cup sponsorship with Schroeder Orthodontics.
School officials say the All Star contract formalizes a long-established partnership between the Carroll Dragons and Dr. Mark Greenberg. He serves as the team doctor at home varsity football games. Board approval of the contract Monday makes All Star Orthopaedics the official sports medicine/spine group sponsors of Carroll Dragon Athletic Teams. It does not, however, prevent competitors from advertising with CISD in other categories and locations.
“We are extremely pleased to officially recognize All Star Orthpaedics‘ support of the Carroll Dragons,” said Julie Thannum, Executive Director of Communications & Marketing. “We continue to look for ways to raise revenue for our general operating fund that is not subject to recapture by the state funding formula.”
The five-year agreement will result in $15,000 in the first year and $12,000 payments in each of the four years that follow. All Star will provide CISD free physicals for 70 coaches and 200 students, as well as serve in an advisory capacity to CISD athletic teams and sponsor a CISD student trainer internship program. All Star will also continue to provide CISD with a head injury (concussion) education program for student athletes/coaches.
As part of the agreement, All Star Orthopaedics will be entitled to a promotional night sponsorship for Dragon basketball games, six eBlast advertisements, Platinum We Care sponsorship, signage at the Aquatics Center and the Carroll Senior High School gymnasium and inclusion on the district’s online Green Pages directory. CISD’s Communications & Marketing Department will also create a video feature for All Star Orthopaedics and place it on the district’s website.
Monies generated from the Advertising and Sponsorship agreements helps pay for daily operational costs like utilities, gas, supplies and teacher salaries. Negotiations occured between the All Star staff, the Carroll Athletic Services Department and the Communications & Marketing Department. The agreement expires in August of 2016.
