Carroll Middle School Announces Traffic Plan

Carroll Middle School officials have released a traffic plan to assist those parents who will be picking up or dropping off their seventh and eighth grade students for the 2011-2012 school year. The first day of classes is Monday, August 22.

Carroll Middle School is located at 1800 East Kirkwood Boulevard, a newly opened road that extends from Kimball (to the west) all the way to East Highland (to the east). The campus sits just north of the Gateway Church property located off the Highway 114 frontage road and Blessed Way. All students residing north of FM 1709 (Southlake Boulevard) are zoned to attend the new Carroll Middle School campus.

City officials recently opened a new road connecting East Highland (just east of the Carroll Intermediate School building) to Kirkwood Boulevard. Parents can utilize this new road or they can enter the school site from the west/south using Kimball Avenue and/or Blessed Way.

Regardless of which direction they come from, all parents will utilize the driveway/loop directly in front of the school to drop off/pick-up students. Only buses and faculty vehicles will be allowed to utilize the road to the west of the campus that circles in back of the building. This will allow for all bus and employee traffic to utilize the back area for a pick-up/drop-off site, keeping parent and bus traffic separate for safety purposes.

A gate connecting the front parking lot with the bus/employee drive will be shut during student pick-up and drop-off times, as will the gate located just off East Highland Avenue north of the campus. School officials say vehicles will not be able to access the campus from East Highland and parents should not drop off their students at that location due to safety concerns.
