Southlake Police Cautions Drivers as School Starts

The first day of school is August 22nd for students in the Carroll Independent School District and the Southlake Department of  Public Safety would like to remind everyone to slow down near school zones and residential neighborhoods, and leave extra-early to allow for traffic and new traffic patterns around some schools due to construction.

Drivers should take extra precautions as children will be crossing busy streets and intersections. We want to also remind drivers to slow down for students getting on to and off of school busesDPS is asking everyone to obey all traffic warning signs including “no cell phone use” when lights are flashing in school zones.

Southlake police officers will be patrolling area school zones to help keep traffic moving smoothly and the streets safe.  Those caught violating traffic laws will be subject to citation and a fine.

Please drive carefully. Let’s all work together to make the school year safe for everyone.
