Board Sets Advisory Committee Application Deadline

Citizens interested in participating on a 2011-2012 Board Advisory Committee for the Carroll Independent School District have the opportunity to submit an application before the September 30 deadline.

The Carroll School Board invites interested parents and taxpayers to volunteer their time and expertise on the Audit Committee, the Budget and Finance Committee, the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC), the District Advisory Committee, Campus Site-Based Decision-Making Committees or S.P.A.R.K. (Students and Parents Against Risks to Our Kids).

Completed applications must be returned to the Superintendent’s Office, 3051 Dove Road in Grapevine by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30. Submitting an application does not necessarily guarantee participation.  Members of the Audit Committee are required to have CPA or accounting experience. Members of the SHAC must be accepted and voted into their positions by the Carroll School Board. The membership of some committees, like the District Advisory Committee and Campus Site-Based Committees, must comply with state law.

Several of the committees are chaired by members of the Carroll School Board. In addition to these committees, the Board also operates a citizen’s Bond Advisory Committee, made up of citizens who were a part of the Long-Range Facility Planning Committee.

For more information about each committee or to apply, visit the District Committees web page at www.southlakecarroll.edu/board-district-committees.aspx.
