CEF Celebrates Milestone

2011 marks an important year for the Carroll Education Foundation. Since its inception in 1996, CEF has strived to enrich “Excellence in Education” for the Carroll Independent School District (CISD)— and has successfully done so for the past 15 years. With over $850,000 raised for teacher grants and more than $104,000 for student scholarships, the impact CEF has made on the school district is unquestionable.

CEF raises the majority of its funds at the Culinary Celebration (photo below), an annual event that features Metroplex chefs, live and silent auctions, a big board and much more. Local restaurants and businesses donate gift cards and services to be auctioned off at the event. Members of the Carroll varsity cheer and drill team assist at the function, as well as other CEF board members. The Culinary Celebration successfully unites the community to raise money for the benefit of students and teachers in CISD. Last year over $200,000 was raised at the event, and CEF hopes to go above and beyond that number for 2011.

Teachers within CISD are gracious and thankful for the grants they have received from CEF over the years. Vicki Harvey, the Science Department Leader at Eubanks Intermediate School, stated, “With future budget constraints, CEF will be vital to the continuation of our first class education.”

Science Lab teacher Debra Heath declared that the CEF grants “provide enriched learning opportunities beyond the four walls of the classroom…students have become leaders in technology, science, and environmental education as they learn new skills.”

Much success has been achieved throughout the past 15 years of CEF history, and the foundation only hopes to expand and improve in the future. CEF prides itself on generating and distributing resources to or for the benefit of CISD, as stated in the mission statement, and holds this declaration in its forefront as it plans for the future.

Carroll Education Foundation of Southlake invites you to their annual Culinary Celebration at The Hyatt Regency DFW on Sunday, October 9 from 6-10 p.m. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. Click here to read more about the Culinary Celebration.
