Dragon Debate Brings Home Awards

A number of success stories came out of the Labor Day weekend’s competition at the Plano Senior Speech and Debate Tournament.

Carroll students Sean Armas and Adam Marshall, both seniors, qualified for the National Tournament of Champions in Duo Interpretation. Armas also qualified for the upcoming competition in Dramatic Interpretation. The competition will be held in San Francisco next May. Sean and Adam placed 4th in Duo Interpretation. Senior, Arvind Venkataraman placed 3rd in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking and qualified for the Texas state tournament to be held in March.

 

Also, bringing home awards were:

  • Sophomore, Daniella Cohen – 5th in Congressional Debate
  • Junior, Lydia Francis – 6th in Original Oratory
  • Freshman, Azhar Hussain – Congressional Debate Finalist
  • Junior, Nick Lowrimore – Congressional Debate Finalist
  • Senior, Tim Dominguez – Congressional Debate Finalist
  • Senior, Paul Samuel – 3rd Congressional Debate
  • Junior, Megan Schippmann – Congressional Debate Finalist
  • Senior, Arvind Venkataraman – 2nd in Congressional Debate
  • Junior, Yashas Singri – Top 16 in Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate
