RICHARDSON – The Carroll Dragons head into their open week with a 3-0 record.
The Dragons’ defense helped anchor the final non-district victory, 20-10 against Richardson Berkner at Wildcat-Ram Stadium Friday night. Carroll, ranked No. 9 in the state, held Berkner scoreless in the second half. The Rams were also held to just 186 offensive yards and 10 first downs.
Carroll returns to action Friday, Sept. 23 at Dragon Stadium against Fossil Ridge on Homecoming Night.
Carroll’s high-powered offense was slowed by two lost fumbles after opening the game with touchdown drive. Quarterback Kenny Hill finished 13-for-22 with 177 yards and rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown. Running back Zach Thomason returned to the lineup after missing the first two games with an injury and had 39 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown.
The Dragons took a 17-10 lead thanks to Drew Brown’s 46-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. His 27-yarder in the third quarter was the only score of the second half.
