The most prestigous National Speech and Debate Tournament in Texas was held at St. Mark’s School this past weekend and Carroll continues to produce successful results.
Receiving a bid to the Tournament of Champions at Northwestern University were Junior, Nick Lowrimore and Senior Tim Dominguez. They advanced to the top 12 in International Extemporaneous Speaking. Receiving another bid to the Tournament of Champions at the University of Kentucky were Seniors, Paul Samuel and Arvind Venkataraman. Paul placed 3rd in the overall tournament and Arvind Venkataraman placed 1st in Congressional Debate. Senior, Sean Armas advanced to the quarter-final round in Dramatic Interpretation and Junior, Megan Schippmann advanced to the semi-final round in Congressional Debate. Senior, Michael Kohm competed in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Division and advanced to the elimination rounds by being in the top 32 of the tournament.
