Registration for 'Empowering Seniors' Has Been Extended

Registration for ‘Empowering Seniors’, a health and lifestyle exposition for boomers and seniors hosted by Tarrant County Commissioner Gary Fickes, has been extended to Wednesday, October 5, 2011! The event will take place on Friday, October 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Euless Campus West from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This year’s event has been expanded to include guests over 50 years of age. Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy complimentary health screenings from sponsoring hospital and healthcare facilities. The event will also feature free workshops on topics like ‘Keeping Your Brain Healthy’, ‘ID Theft and Fraud’, and ‘Hot Topics in Medicare.’

Participants may also wish to bring the following information with them to the event:

  • To apply for a passport: Proof of citizenship such as an official, original birth certificate or current passport, driver’s license, or social security card to apply for a passport, as well as checks for payment (no cash or credit cards).
  • To apply for a handicapped sticker: Bring a written medical prescription.
  • List of prescriptions, Medicare card and all other health insurance cards: Official Medicare counselors will be on site to meet with participants.

To assure that participants receive a boxed lunch, all prospective attendees are urged to register no later than Wednesday, October 5th by visiting, or by calling (817) 581-3600.  Seniors interested in receiving a free MRI review for neck and back pain, must also call ahead to reserve a space at (817) 442-9300, ext. 164.
