Beginning Monday, October 31, 2011, a contractor for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin the construction of right turn deceleration lanes at three FM1709 intersections: Waterford Drive, Miron Drive, and Westwood Drive. To avoid peak morning traffic, permanent lane closures will not be installed until after 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
For construction at Waterford Drive, permanent lane closures will be put in place from the eastern driveway of Carroll Senior High School to just east of Waterford Drive. All Carroll Senior High School driveways will remain accessible during construction, though sidewalks will be impacted. Those using the sidewalks are asked to consider an alternate route around the construction area.
For construction at Miron Drive and Westwood Drive, permanent lane closures will be put in place from east of Central Drive to just beyond Westwood Drive. As early as the week of October 31, Miron Drive will be shut down to one lane. The contractor has spoken with the retail centers on Miron Drive to accommodate any large delivery trucks.
Additionally, barricades and flagmen will be placed near the above intersections to indicate lane closures. Unless any unforeseen setbacks arise, construction is expected to be completed in early 2012. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Public Works department at (817) 748-8098.
