KELLER – For the second consecutive week in District 7-5A, the Carroll Dragons held on late for another close victory.
The Dragons edged Keller 26-21 last Friday at the KISD Athletic Complex. Carroll improved to 5-0 and 2-0 in 7-5A a week after a two-point victory against Fossil Ridge. Carroll plays on the road for the second consecutive week at Northwest on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Dragons quarterback Kenny Hill rushed for 175 yards on 10 carries and scored on touchdown runs of 20 and 60 yards. Hill also passed for 95 yards and one touchdown, a 44-yard pass to Peyton Williams.
In the first half, the Dragons built a 26-7. But in the second half Keller rallied while holding the Dragons scoreless. Dragon running back A.J. Ezzard saw his first action of the season after suffering a leg injury before the season. Ezzard finished with 62 yards on 16 carries.
On Monday, the Dragons moved up to No. 6 in the Class 5A Associated Press Top 10 poll.
