Dragons Rout Northwest, Prepare For Rival

JUSTIN – The Carroll Dragons found their edge again last Friday at Northwest.

Carroll, ranked No. 6 in the Associated Press Class 5A poll, routed Northwest 48-13 at Northwest ISD Stadium. The Dragons remain undefeated at 6-0 and 3-0 in District 7-5A and move ahead to meet rival Coppell Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium. Read more here about the upcoming showdown. Coppell enters the matchup 5-1, 2-1. Last season Coppell hosted the contest and defeated the Dragons. Coppell will face a Dragons team that revitalized itself after two close victories to start district play.

The Dragons raced to a 41-7 halftime lead and were guided by a host of playmakers. Quarterback Kenny Hill was 22-of-27 passing with 307 yards and three TDs. Running back A.J. Ezzard had 57 yards and three TDs and Steven Bergmark added 75 yards and one TD.

Senior receiver Sabian Holmes had a big night with eight catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 22 yards per catch. Peyton Williams added eight catches for 74 yards and a TD.

Carroll finished with 523 yards, while the Dragons defense held Northwest to 234 yards.
