Southlake "Home for the Holidays" Website Launches

Bells will soon be ringing and thousands of lights will be sparkling throughout Town Square and the entire city as the holiday season gets underway. As one of the busiest times of the year for both Southlake retailers and residents, the City of Southlake Economic Development Department launched a dedicated website November 1 as a one-stop resource for holiday events and activities: www.HomeForTheHolidaysSouthlake.com.

With a snowflake theme and photos from previous holiday events, the festive website is organized into 10 primary categories with descriptions, dates and times for holiday happenings November 7 through December 24:

  • Festival of Trees
  • Tinsel Gala
  • Annual Tree Lighting
  • Deck the Windows
  • Santa’s Village
  • Carriage Rides
  • For the Little Elves
  • Holiday Concierge
  • Shopping & Dining
  • Other Holiday Events

Kicking off the holiday season is the Annual Tree Lighting in Town Square, which takes place November 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and includes performances by local choirs and the Southlake Community Band, as well as free activities for everyone including photos with Santa, carriage rides, and holiday food and drink. The holidays are not complete without giving a wish list to Santa, so don’t miss the opportunity to see him in person at Santa’s Workshop and Santa’s Village.

Another important purpose of the website is to promote local businesses and encourage people to “Shop Southlake” during the holiday season. The Other Holiday Events section of the website lists events hosted by Southlake businesses and the Shopping & Dining section links directly to the business directory. The website will soon list Black Friday store hours as well as any store coupons being given away. The website also has information about the Greater Southlake Women’s Society’s holiday events: 4th Annual Festival of Trees takes place in the lobby at City Hall November 7 through December 17; and the Tinsel Gala on November 18 is a special evening of dinner, dancing and a silent auction at the Southlake Hilton. Tickets may be purchased online.

The website will be continuously updated and businesses and community organizations may submit information for posting to jlind@visitsouthlaketexas.com. For more information, call Jill Lind, tourism marketing manager, at (817) 748-8652.
