Carroll Dragons boys’ soccer coach Greg Oglesby has earned two distiguished coaching honors. After leading the Dragons to the Class 5A state title last spring, Oglesby was named national coach of the year by ESPN HS. Former Dragon star forward Mac McGuire was also named to the first-team.
Oglesby also won a regional coaching honor. He was named National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas State and Regional Coach of the Year. The award encompasses 12 states and qualifies Oglesby as one of eight finalists for the NSCAA/Adidas national coach of the year. Oglesby led the Dragons to historical season that included a No. 1 national ranking. The national coach of the year award will be presented in Kansas City on Jan. 13. Oglesby has coached soccer for 31 years, including 21 as a head coach. He started the Carroll program 16 years ago. The Dragons went 28-0-3 last season.
