Officer Receives Commendation Bar

Canine Officer Nate Anderson recently received a Commendation Bar from Police Chief Stephen Mylett for going above and beyond the call of duty. Anderson is credited with helping a stranded woman who was found sleeping in her car in Town Square. The woman told Officer Anderson that she had been unable to find an organization that could help her and said her only option was to try to find a safe place to sleep for the night.

Officer Anderson did not hesitate to help make sure she received a hot meal and a safe place to stay for the next few nights. He paid for a hotel room, filled up her gas tank, and gave her a few dollars for food out of his own pocket. He also put her in touch with several churches and organizations that he hoped could help her. Police Chief Stephen Mylett says, “Officer Anderson exemplifies the kind of officers we have working as part of the Southlake DPS Police Department. It is an honor to have him on our team.”

Officer Anderson was recognized at the January 3rd City Council meeting by Mayor John Terrell, City Council members and Chief Stephen Mylett.
