It’s that time of year again! Time for family and friends to gather together to do a little sightseeing during the Holidays and there’s no place better to get in the Christmas spirit than Town Square in Southlake. Visitors and shoppers alike flock to the Square each year to see the twinkling lights, Christmas decorations and of course Santa’s Village.
The annual tree lighting ceremony is not to be missed either! It takes place on November 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and includes photos with Santa in his workshop, carriage rides and performances by local choirs including the Southlake Community Band and so much more. Here’s a list of events for Southlake’s Home For The Holidays http://www.southlakehomefortheholidays.com/.
We also want to pass along some important traffic tips to you as you head to the Holiday festivities.
S.H. 114 Access
If you are planning to park in Town Square, and use east or westbound S.H. 114 to get here, take the Carroll exit. Westbound drivers will crossover the bridge and continue eastbound on the 114 service road, parking on the north end of Town Square. Eastbound drivers should get off at Carroll and continue on the service road to the Town Square entrances.
Southlake DPS Traffic Lt. Mike Dunn is urging visitors to follow this route as they travel to Town Square. “It will help us keep traffic moving smoothly and get drivers into and out of the area safely,” said Dunn. “When the event is over, drivers can leave by exiting onto the eastbound service road and accessing S.H. 114 at Kimball,” he added.
Southlake Blvd. Access
Visitors who arrive via Southlake Boulevard may either turn north on Carroll Avenue to park on the west side of Town Square or use Central to access the east side of the Square or use the east parking garage.
At the conclusion of the event, all traffic on the west side of the Town Square will exit (right-turn only) onto Carroll heading northbound. There will be no southbound traffic out of the Square allowed onto Carroll Avenue.
All traffic on the east side of the Square will exit on Central southbound. If you park in the east garage, and you exit on the east side of the garage you will go south on Central to Southlake Boulevard. If you exit the west end of the garage you will exit north on Central to the 114 service road.
Visitors who are planning to use Southlake Boulevard once the event is over should also be aware that they will not be allowed access to Carroll Avenue to head northbound towards S.H. 114. “We want to make sure everyone has a great experience while here and that they get home safely with as little delay as possible,” Dunn added. Traffic Officers will be on hand to help everyone follow the correct route.
Mark your calendars now for Southlake’s Home For The Holidays and check back often for updates and specials on Black Friday sales and store hours. We hope everyone has a wonderful time this Holiday Season!
